Award Congratulations
Congratulations to Susan Fredline (Queensland), past member of the HSA Management Committee. Susie has been recognised for her mentorship as a 2024 awardee for Excellence in Australian Kodaly-inspired Music Education.
Ring the Future 2024 - 21st International Handbell Symposium UPDATE
Registration for the 21st International Handbell Symposium has now closed. Over 700 participants have registered, far greater than organisers had expected!
Representing Australasia will be Barbara McGeever, who will conduct the massed ringing piece, "The Sun Will Shine Tomorrow" composed by Timothy Sherlock. Conductor's performance notes are available by CLICKING HERE.
Leesa Cooke (Cairns) will be guest instrumentalist, performing on the clarinet in the massed ringing piece, "Realms of Glory".
Kevinwood Bells (Sydney) will be hosting a workshop that will explore and play with the sounds of Australian fauna in song, based on the book by Patricia Beaton.
Handbells on Spicks and Specks
In June 2024, the beloved music quiz show Spicks and Specks made its season return to the small screen. In episode three, HSA handbells make a cameo appearance in the segment 'Counting the Beat'. You can watch the episode on ABC iView.
