Handbells at the Airport
May 28, 2017
Monday, 29 May was the day we had a fleeting visit from Kathie Fink, solo ringer supreme. She was part of a tour group from the USA who were seeing the sights of New Zealand, having earlier been to Australia. Some of our group (Richmond Handbell Ringers) met her at the Christchurch International Airport. We set up the bells and played a few pieces, and then Kathie mesmerised us with her extraordinary ability, and lightning fast hand movements. She played some Christmas music (Christmas in May, I called it). Her ringing was effortless, and on mostly borrowed bells and chimes. Kathie is a wonderful ambassador for the handbell ringing fraternity.
