Kevinwood Bells

Director: Suzanne Maslen

Kevinwood Bells was formed by Suzanne Maslen in 19__.  They are an accomplished group of dedicated ringers who enjoy playing their bells in the traditional English ‘Off-table’ style.

They have attended numerous International Handbell Symposia including Adelaide (1994), Tokyo (____) and Brisbane (2006). They have also performed Christmas Carols in many different locations including Sydney Town Hall, Glenwood, and in the Domain Gardens as part of Sydney’s Carols in the Domain in both 1998 and 1999,. They are active participants in HSA festivals and have travelled to most capital cities in Australia and various locations in New Zealand in order to attend these events.  They impressed everyone with an outstanding performance of Flight of the Bumble Bee at our most recent festival in Launceston in 2011!

Kevinwood Bells comes under the banner of  Kevinwood musical groups, based at St Kevin’s Catholic Church in Eastwood, Sydney.  Kevinwood Bells is the most active ensemble group within the Kevinwood family, rehearsing from 9-11am every Saturday without fail, and having a busy round of engagements.

Kevinwood have been recognised on the Handbell Musicians of America’s Virtual Handbell Ensemble website for being the first to complete one of the segments comprising Jim Meredith’s “Misterium”. They have also been asked to participate in Canberra’s Centenary celebrations this year - more information here.  Congratulations to Suzanne and team!
